GreenSquareAccord’s Executive Director of Care and Support awarded MBE

Maxine Espley MBE

Maxine Espley, Executive Director of Care and Support at GreenSquareAccord, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours list for services to health and social care.

This special recognition for Maxine reflects a career that spans three decades, where she has worked at senior executive levels across both the NHS and the care and support sector.

As well as providing leadership to the GreenSquareAccord care and support services, Maxine also serves on the Board of the National Care Forum and is the health and social care lead director on the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership Board. Maxine is a passionate advocate for the sector and a champion for all those who work in care.

Following news of her award, Maxine said:

“When the official government envelope arrived through the letterbox, I thought I must be in some kind of trouble – but, when I realised I had been nominated to receive this amazing award, I was quite overwhelmed. Keeping the news secret for the past few weeks has been hard, but I am so looking forward to telling my Mum, I know how much it will mean to her.

“Now I have had a chance for the news to sink in, my thoughts have been focussed on all the incredible care and support staff who work so hard to look after some of the most vulnerable people in our society. The past couple of years, in particular, have been enormously challenging and I want to dedicate this award to all those in our sector who work tirelessly in support of others.”

Ruth Cooke, Chief Executive Officer at GreenSquareAccord, said:

“Maxine’s contribution in the care and support sector is simply outstanding. She very quietly and effectively makes things happen which improve the lives of both carers, and those who are cared for and supported. I know how highly valued she is by all those she works with, and this award is a testament to all her hard work and dedication over many years. All of us at GreenSquareAccord are absolutely delighted that she has been publicly honoured in this way.”
